To qualify for Free or Low Cost Health Insurance under the Affordable Care Act, you must meet the following four criteria:

1)  Age: Applicants must be at least 19 years old.

2)  Not Currently Insured: Applicants can not have other health insurance. This includes but is not limited to Medicare, Medicaid, Marketplace, VA Benefits, coverage from a spouse or employer, etc.

3)  Legal Presence: Applicants must be Legally Present in the United States to qualify for coverage. This does not mean that you must be a US Citizen. As long as you are here in the US legally, you will likely still qualify. Proof of Legal Presence will be required to complete the application.

4)  Income Qualification: Income Qualification varies by state, and in some cases Zip Code. Most of the country has free plans available for those with an estimated income of less than $2,500 per month. If you have a Spouse and/or Children, the income limits are higher proportionally to your family size.

Generally speaking, you must earn between 100% – 400% of the Federal Poverty Level to qualify for Free or Low Cost Health Insurance. See chart below:
